Board Game Aggravation

This is one of many game boards that I have made for family and friends over the years. It is called Aggravation and it is played with cards and marbles. It has two sides, 4 player and 6 player. The board is made with birch ply and edged with stained oak including a handle for easier transporting. There is a card holder fashioned out of oak as well that is pinned to the middle of the board. I have made roughly 35 of these boards including some smaller travel versions for the kids. Each board has 250 holes drilled with a fostner bit, that is close to 8,750 holes( a whole lot of wood chips !) Can’t say that I am eager to get down in the shop to make more of these but the game is fun to play and it has given a lot of joy to us over the years(as well as some Aggravation !) Thanks for taking a look and be safe…....ROB

Great project! Looks like an interesting game I could play with the grandchildren.

That’s a great looking game board! Our family has taken turns “aggravating” each other over the years with this fun game, but our board came in a retail box and wasn’t made of wood. Thanks for posting!

Looks like you did a super job on these game boards. I had an uncle that made these for all the family years ago but I thought we played with dice and not cards. Maybe some one could give a few details on how it’s played with cards.

Thanks everyone for the compliments!

@ deparrott Thanks for taking a look and yes it is the same game with dice most likely. With cards the game is played in the same fashion only the face cards have different values and meanings. For example the jack of any suit can be used as 11 moves for your own marble or can be used to swap any players marble with your own ! I believe the commercial version was called Trouble and used dice as well( I think anyways) !

I was noticing the board. What are the orange dots for? From what i remember the one next to that is the start? Is that correct? Also with the curved model. How do you go around the circle near the center?

Those are nice looking game boards and you’ve done a fine job on them.

Thanks for taking a look fellos !

@ Chris I am not at my shop at the moment but should be there this weekend, and I can get the info for you and send it to you in a PM.

The orange holes are where You start when you enter the field of play, and as for the curved 4player side it is no different in terms of moving around the board, you can only go in one direction (except with the 4card in which you move 4 spaces back) and move forward with each consecutive hole ! I believe that you can find the rules of play on line? ROB

HA! We also love that game. I played hundreds of hours with the family through my childhood. I made one myself a few years ago but not quite as nice.

Please help me out a bit though. We have NEVER seen it played with cards. Only 2 dice.

Makes me want to go make another one.

Thanks for stoping in TBL’s and yes a lot of fun over the years ! The version of the game we play uses two decks of regular cards and uses different values for certain cards ! We did at one point have the written rules that we got from online. So with some web surfing you should be able to find the rules. Anyways, hope You set out to make one and it brings back the fun it once provided! Once again, thanks and good luck!”..........ROB

Does anyone have the template for the six person. MY mother is very sick and I am trying to make one last minute. She grew up playing and we wanted to make one for Christsmas?

Thank You!
