An experiment in inverted tops. The point protrudes just a tad so you have to be very precise when spinning by hand but it goes for a long time and is fun to watch. Maple with shellac, BLO & wax. Next time I will make it in two pieces. I wanted to hollow it deeper but don’t have the proper tools yet.

Nice things about woodworking, you can experiment and discover new and more interesting ways to improve a piece of wood.

Good idea. I will have to try one. I buy Harbor Freight 8pc lathe chisel sets and grind use specific tools all the time. You get 5 flat tools and 3 gouges. The price is right and you can make tools you can not buy.

Neat idea, always glad to see new changes, wonder if the hollowed out portion creates lift, and keeps it spinning longer. Definitely will try a version of my own, thanks.

Why leave things the way they are when you can improve them? Cool Rick. You’re becoming top notch. I really like the design.
