My seven year old had a school project coming up. With Thanksgiving around the corner, they had to make a house that the Native Americans built and lived in. He chose to make a plank house and I found out that they were made with cedar. Knowing this I saw another opportunity to get my boy in the shop with me.
We had a blast, he was a little discouraged that I made him nail every piece by hand. I guess I should have put away the pneumatic gun sitting next to him before hand. My explanation, ” you have to know how to nail with a hammer before you use a gun”. Being seven he didn’t understand. Anyway he was very pleased with the outcome and I am very pleased with the time spent together!
Every piece of wood on the plank house is Cedar, the shop smelled great!
