My boy wanted a plastic and metal brand name spinning top that really does nothing except spin and then stop spinning. It was 12 bucks. He was totally excited to help me make one on the lathe instead. This is maple, and I polished it with crystal coat by HUT.

I drilled a hole in the tip and put a brass headed nail inside with some CA after I sanded it to a point on the grinder. He loves it.

Interesting design; I didn’t know what a Beyblade was until I looked it up. I’ve been making tops lately and got some ideas, thanks.

It’s nice to save a few bucks, but even nicer when a young person takes interest in woodworking. Hopefully he will always choose wood over plastic. Tell the young fella he and dad did a fine job.

Very cool and it is way better than the plastic ones. Great job to both of you!
