I had a nice block of walnut I wanted to try turning but it hurt me to waste so much making a conventional round bowl so I thought I’d try the square winged style. It actually turned out pretty good and I still have all my knuckles in tact! The bottom ended up a little thick (3/8”) but not to bad for getting started. At least the inside wasn’t bigger than the outside.

Ray, that is spectacular. I really like the finish you got on that beautiful piece of wood. It’s always a good thing when you manage to keep the interior smaller than the exterior :-). I have not tried a square bowl yet, but it’s on my list of things to do.

Great job and a beautiful piece of wood. Love the finish. Thanks for showing.
