This is a coffee table I have been working on for a while for my Mother in Law. Everything is elm except the stretcher which is black walnut. The bottom of the table is still rounded and has the bark on it so it took a very long time to attach the legs since I had to cut notches by hand. I finished the top with bar top epoxy…however I did not have good luck getting it perfectly smooth and flat, so I smoothed it out with a belt sander and then polished it back up by hand. Any comments are appreciated.

Beautiful. I personally love the look of elm.

that looks really great. Nice job. I love the simple design and look that is certainly going to be sturdy.

Gorgeous!! Is that a little extra shelf on the bottom (black walnut) for storage?

IMHO elm is one of the most underrated woods. The grain in yours is typical of the feathery grain I love. Great job on the build and I would never guess the finishing was a problem from looking at the end result.

Could you post the dimensions?
