Here is the first shadow box I made about 3 years ago for a co-worker out of Cherry. We were stationed in Great Lakes, IL as RDCs (Recruit Division Commanders or the Navy’s version of Drill Instructor) He was a Search and Rescue Swimmer and retired after 20 years of service. He put the display boards together after I cut them out and gave them to him. He also put the light in the helicopter, there is also a red flashing light on the tail that was not working when I took the pictures. It is hard to see and I don’t have a clear picture of it but under the swimmer there is a tail of an airplane and a pilot in the water. The water and waves were made from plexglass and a belt sander.

The year after he got home he entered the shadow box into a woodworking show at the local fair in Alabama and won first place with it. I hope you enjoy.
