Backyard playset

It all started about 7 years ago. I decided to build my son a playset in the yard for his birthday. I had some help from my neighbor, but largely it was a DIY project. At one point, I modified the kit to include swings, which the guy at the lumberyard said couldn’t be done with this kit. Not only did I put swings on it, but they survived a direct hit from a 40’ long x 15” wide willow tree limb that came down at 6AM one morning.

But I digress.

My oldest boy is a climber, and has been since the day he was born, so I added a rockwall. Next my daughter and son wanted a clubhouse, so I decided to get into phase II of the development, and added the second tower. Again, covered in climbing rocks. I decked the lower section to put a craft bench and drop their sand box. Two years ago, I had surprise twins (no one plans to have twin boys at 40!), and watching them play in the sand the other day, I realized that it was too small for all four kids.

On to phase III- a larger, permanent sand box, that bench I mentioned (all plastic toys will go!), and closing up the top to the elements, since my two year olds both can walk up both slides (and it’s all they want to do…)

Less grass to mow, more edging to do…

Looks like a great place to grow an imagination. Your children surely will build memories of a lifetime there. Thank you for sharing.
