I made this little guy out of Zebra, Bubinga, Walnut, and Lace woods. It fits in your hand even though it might appear larger.
I printed a picture I liked on adhesive backed paper and traced different areas of colors with a pen. Then cut them out and stuck them to some nice wood scraps. Followed that with a few hours at the band saw. Several hours of scraping, filing, and sanding and I was able to fit the pieces together. After getting this as tight as I could I glued it and hit it with my belt sander as most of my scraps were not the same thickness.

OK so it’s not a great fitting thing but I gave it a good try. I will take a few more pictures after I figure out what type of wood I will use to make a little plaque to hang it on. I do have some oak lying around!
I am sorry for the dark picture. I will take a few more soon.

Beautiful woods… Is this just abstract? I see a quail eating a fish but not sure on the left side. Certainly dont throw that out as an insult as I do like it, but I remain curious as to you state it was a picture that you liked, and I’m not seeing it… Either way, thanks for sharing…

LOL!
It’s a picture of a Beagle’s face while howling.
I guess I should have said that from the start but I wanted to see how many people could figure it out.

I have a Beagle and I guess it’s the breed but they always seam to through their head back when they howl. They are strange little dogs!

Oh… Indeed :) You know I looked at it for nearly 15 minutes yesterday without seeing that… Perhaps it was simply sleep deprivation… Crystal clear now, and certainly adds to the appeal… Very nice…

Here are slightly better pictures I took last night. It’s funny how the background colors effect the colors of the piece!
I hope you like it!
