This is a project that I finished in July of 07. It was made from walnut to match my bed.

This project was a dovetails first for me:

Hope you liked it!

Nice dresser. I think walnut lends itself to Arts and Crafts/Mission perfectly… as evidenced by this, and the furniture out of Schroeders shop.
They might not have focused on white oak so much if LJs was around way back then!

Thank you everyone!

Dusty,
The hadware is a replica of the original Stickley hardware that inspired this piece (seen here). I purchased it online from Rockler. When I bought them they were $25 a piece. Ouch!

Here are more measurements:

Thanks again!

Beautifully done. I really like the attention to detail. The top drawers wood matching is very nice. Your dovetails are well executed as well. Thank you for sharing Brian.

Beautiful, Great job all around. Too bad you cannot see those dovetails with the drawers closed. I think I would just leave them open a couple of inches all the time. ha ha.

Very nice. I am building a similar chest out of red oak. My drawers are plywood though with red oak fronts. I like yours better, but I’m not quite ready to try dovetails yet on something that extensive. Wish me luck that mine turns out half as good as yours.

Thanks for sharing.

I missed this one. Wow what more can you say everything looks perfect. It just the way I would do it if I could. Someone will be enjoying this for generations to come.
When your grandchild passes this down to her grandchildern she’ll show her where you signed it and rub their fingers over your name so they to can invision you making this 75 years ago.
This is a keeper.

What a great case! Beautiful!

I see dividers in the dry fit, but no runners. I’m guessing that you used guides? Can you tell me more about how you fit the drawers?

The drawer runners and guides went in last. They go in with a rabbit at the front and into a groove in the back (in the back behind each drawer divider). Let me know if this makes sense.

Brian,

first I just the love the fact that you put your own spin on the A&C style and build with Walnut. To me it takes on a totally new feel. Love the attention to detail in that you cut the top drawers from one piece for continuous grain. Love the drawers please don’t tell me you cut those dovetails by hand. Did you also use tung oil for your finish on this like your bed? I used original Stickley hardware lfor one of my projects like you did from Rockler and man I think it is well worth the price. Great Job.
