2 big leaf maple boxes. Warm up to get me back going in shop now that weather has turned. One is quilted and the other is burl. I tried different lids on these and they were horrible. Big leaf has so many colors!!!

This is a beautiful box. That wood just jumps out at you. Nice work.

Your boxes are very nicely designed and made, but the wood grains are absolutely magnificent!

Mike, the best wood in a box that I have seen for a while. The design shows it off very well.

-- Robert, so much inspiration here, and so little time!

Big leaf maple is great wood to work with and you got some especially nice pieces. It is so readily available in the Pacific North West. I get all I can use off my 14 acres near Eugene, OR. Use it mostly for turning but you have inspired me to try some boxes.

Beautiful work! I wouldn’t know how to act if I got my hands on lumber that pretty. It would probably just sit in the workshop because I would be to afraid to ruin it!!!

Beautiful boxes! I’ve never worked with big leaf maple, but now I’ve got to find some. How did you go about making the cove?

Thanks- Big leaf and walnut are my favorites. So much variety in the same species…....
The cove: I use a table saw- run the piece at an angle. If desired I could do a build next time I build one of these. I love this style of box- a little change here or there and it is a whole different box.! PS. I have a mountain of big leaf.

Beautiful job on all 3 of those boxes. Your wood supply is quite enviable.
