After about six weeks of evenings and weekends I have finally completed a media center for my family. I have built many of these for other homeowners but finally had the time to create one for myself. I utilized a type of plywood with 11 ply for superior strength and it had a paper backing that not only painted very nicely but virtually eliminated all blowout or splintering. I wanted to enclose all of my electronics behind closed doors. I will be swinging by the local electronics store to pickup an IR repeater to allow the components to work through the wooden doors and up to 23 feet away. I used two coats of primer and 3 coats of latex topcoat for a amazing finish. Used mini rollers to give the finish an orange peel affect and it is amazing how that hides the imperfections. I need to remember to anchor the unit to the wall today! I used an antique white semi gloss finish and the Kreg Jig received an amazing workout from this project!
