The is one part of a multi-part bedroom remodel that we did for my son. He was starting to outgrow his old room redesign and he was starting to need a more organized space to live and play in.

This part of his room is a new bed. We moved him from a twin bed to a full bed and that required a new bed frame. I wanted it to still have a rustic feel so it was kept very simple looking and all of the surfaces and outer edges were roughed up with an angle grinder to look more worn or distressed. I dislike wasted space and the space under a bed is a big one so for this bed I also built in six good size drawers that slide under the bed. The entire bed was stained dark brown and then given a high gloss polyurethane coat.

As imitation is the deepest form of flattery, I hope you find yourself deeply flattered! I’ve been looking for a simple, rugged, boyish design for a platform bed for my own son. Thank you for the inspiration!

It looks great and well made. Like those drawers and shoe stand, lots of storage. Great job!
