Spalted Maple Bowl

A small Spalted Maple bowl made for a very talented woodworking friend.

About 7” in diameter and maybe 2” deep. Made this one without a foot ring but scooped out the bottom slightly to assure that it sets flat.

Finished with several applications of semi gloss oil based poly and the some furniture wax.

That bowl is going to be hard to beat. I bet you don’t tumble to the fact that it is wood, and not glass or plastic, until you pick it up, realize it is lighter than glass, and get a close look at the grain. Stunning!
