Spalted Maple Bowl

A small Spalted Maple bowl made for a very talented woodworking friend.

About 7” in diameter and maybe 2” deep. Made this one without a foot ring but scooped out the bottom slightly to assure that it sets flat.

Finished with several applications of semi gloss oil based poly and the some furniture wax.

What a beautiful bowl !!!!!!! I love the darkness& the finish. I would like to find a block like that.

That bowl is going to be hard to beat. I bet you don’t tumble to the fact that it is wood, and not glass or plastic, until you pick it up, realize it is lighter than glass, and get a close look at the grain. Stunning!

That is a gorgeous bowl Lew. Nice spalting all the way through. Thanks for the showing the bottom side of the bowl.
