First of all I would like to send out a huge thanks to Paul of Canadian Woodworks for the inspiration for me to build these chairs. Paul’s projects and videos (posted on LJ’s) and direct help in answering a technical question were much appreciated. These are the first chairs that I have ever built (one in Cherry, the other in Walnut).

Also many thanks to Hal Taylor for his technical information obtained from his book on how to build a rocker and his offer to contact him directly if I needed any help. I think Hal likes Texans so I am good with that.

I am currently finishing up two hall tables, in the Greene and Greene style to match the TV stand (that you see in the back ground of some of these pictures) and two end tables that I have completed previously. After that I am looking forward to starting on a couple of Hal’s rockers. I can’t wait. The carving and sculpting aspects of these style of chair builds is a huge amount of fun (at least for me) and also a huge amount of saw dust.

By the way….. the two knuckle heads in the last photo are my future rock and roll stars and the recipients of these musicians chairs. I told them that the chairs will make them play better.

I hope you enjoy looking.

Thanks
DanR

PS, thank you to all of the LJer’s that contribute to this site.

Thanks Paul,

I have been hoarding some nice 12/4 Walnut and Cherry for the rockers. I have to get the hall tables done first and then dive into the rockers.

I don’t know if you noticed that I coopered the backs of the musician’s chairs (practice for the rockers).

Later.

Amazing looking chairs, the joinery is that of a virtuoso. I’d love to be able to make something like this one day.
