you may have mentioned this in past postings, but what types of birds do these typically attract? Do you work off of some sort of plans when building these, or is it more of a fly by the seat of you pants type project?

My father enjoys bird watching, I may have to borrow some of your ideas and put something together for him…

Thanks Darryl
I get all kinds of different birds but the majority of birds nesting are sparrows and swallows. i am researching the size of holes and the size of rooms to have a variety of different birds. The ideas come the top of my head. it takes about a half hour to draw up a floor plan then i do every thing else on the spot.
i usually have an idea how it’s going to look. thanks john

John: this latest creation is the best of the bunch, at least that is what wife and I think of the newest house. You have me in trouble however as wife thinks I should build one of your creations for our yard. No way!!! I know when I’m over my head. There is no room for the house and we would probably not be allowed to have one in our yard with the restrictions in this subdivision.( You Done good John.)

Thanks Doug
It’s funny a few people said they like this one best. i think it has something to do with the look of the wood. i don’t usually run it through the planer. this one took me 3 days to build. i have done a few smaller houses that are ok in the city. they were around 16- 18” sq.( 6 plex) you just to mount them high enough so they don’t walk away.
thanks again.
