Well I have leaped into the world of making boxes, this is my first attempt at them.
I’m perplexed on what type of hinge to use, the width is 1/4”, could I use small barrel hinges or a tiny piano hinge.
Any suggestions will help
Once again, this site will not allow the pictures to be rotated, sorry for the strained neck

Have you considered wood hinges? Surface mounted on box and lid.

For me a piano hinge will disturb the beauty of this box. How about using 1/8 inch brass rod as a hinge. I have had good luck with it.

DMC, great start on box making. I like the bottom route you used.

It works better with 5/8, and a lid that includes part of the side of the box, but try this, or this.. Keep boxing and keep posting.

The sides on these boxes are 5/16” but the hinge would still work on 1/4”.
There’s a “how to” blog here.
