I found this old ammo box in the basement after cleaning, and i didn’t want to drop it.
So i decided to do something with it. It’s not the nicest box in the world, it have some crack. and the top is smaller than the box, but i like it :)
If the painted date is correct in it (in the fourth picture) it is 30 years old, but it still massive.

So i sanded that green paint down, corrected the mistakes what i could. Sanded down the paint and the rust from the hinges too.
Finally I saned the whole box in oil, with p120 sandpaper.
I used parafin oil in it.
Finally i put it some nice brown color, and some bees wax.
I like the wax because it’s easy to put in and correct the mistakes, rather than the lacquer.

Now i have a nice (not the most beautiful) box, but it have a feeling :)
I have to decide what I will put into it lastly. :))
I have no idea yet.. I prefer gold, and treasure… but i don’t have any :((
:)))

Your treasure is the great work you made yourself. You might have created an heirloom for years to come.

I like it—nice job. I use one for magazines in my family room.

Great rebuild on that beautiful box. Like the brown color and the finish. A great heirloom piece and storage for family mementos.

That’s a nice reproduction. It’s very attractive.
