Morris Chair

Here’s a Morris Chair that I made earlier this year. It is made out of quarter-sawn red oak, with general finishes mission oak stain and Arm-a-Seal. It is part of a set of furniture I have made for my living room. I used Sketch-up to design the chair. The legs are hollow and were made with a 45 degree locking router bit so that all four sides have the quarter-sawn grain pattern. Thanks,

-- Matt

Looks nice! How do you like the arms? Your version looks like much less trouble than the curved variety. i like the slats too. The ones with lots of skinny slats look too busy for my taste.

Very nice. I have been wanting to build one of these for sometime now and you may have just gotten the ball rolling in my court.

I also use Sketchup for designing all of my projects, it is an awesome tool.

Thanks for sharing!

It’s a beautiful chair and a real nice job.

Nice looking Morris chair! I bet it’s even more comfortable because you built it yourself!
