I must share a fantastic opportunity fell in my lap recently. A 1890 butcher shop with all its working parts like meat hooks on tracks and fire stacks still in place being on the hottest foot traffic corner on main street came up for lease in Fredericksburg Texas . A wine tasting and bed and breakfeast destination. It had a 21’’ sloped concrete floor and small windows . I could tell the bones of the building with its smoke charred ceiling could be a great place to show my furniture and other artists whose work is inspired by nature. I first jackhammered six tons of concrete to put a new level antique pine floor in. I then cut a sixteen foot by seventy -seventy inch opening for a new storefront window to let the sculpture garden in and for people to see the living history I am going to display in the ceiling with its old meat hooks on rails still hanging. The old line shaft belt driven equipment is still there I will motorize to get going with a slow rpm gear motor for people to see the past history of the way it was. My concept is to have all art work below ten foot displayed on white canvas and above that the smoke charred roof and walls to remain old. I will display on the outside many of my glass sculptures as well.I will post more later when I get closer to finishing. I am going to call it Dan Pfeiffer Gallery. All this and Heaven too.
