Here’s some pictures of a mission style rocker I built recently. It is made out of quarter-sawn red oak, with a maroon vinyl, padded seat. The stain is General Finishes Mission Oak Gel Stain, and Arm-a-Seal. I had never made a rocking chair before, so I used a plan from popular mechanics as a general guide and made some changes in my sketch-up model. This is the latest addition to a set of furniture for my living room. I’ll be posting the other pieces soon. Thanks for looking.

Nicely done. Were you trying to match the trim finish in your house (I assume that’s your house?) or was that a happy accident? Either way, it looks like you nailed it.

Actually that’s not my house, it’s the office at my farm, where my wood shop is. I did all the trim there too, and even though they are similar color they are too different stains. I guess I really like that color of oak stain. Thanks,

Matt, nice rocker. I’ve been wanting to make a rocker for a while but haven’t gotten around to do one. Would you be able to share the plans with me? It is exactly the style I want to make.

Beautiful and well crafted rocker. Like the classic design, pretty wood and great finish.

Great! Very nice job.
The office in the farm? In the shop?

When I Lived in W.F. North Dakota, my office was in the garage. I think, that is the best place for a man’s office!
Preferrably an un-atached shop/garage! At least 50+ feet from the house, I had heat; all it needed was a bathroom

I had a full set-up—Nice desk, decent computer Scanner Printer and room to file the patterns/plans /idea sheet, etc.
I also had shelves that displayed most of my toy tractor collection! The way I wanted to display them! ( I did have a few in the house also) I even had drapes on the window. Also had a land-line phone for better internet connection.
