Metal spinning and wood

I was cruising the internet a while back and found this thing called metal spinning. Being a big turner I thought I would try it out. This is my first go at it… and second and third. They got more wrinkled then they should have so I had a little fun with some wood turning that I then carved after and made this.

I highly recommend trying metal spinning. It was a lot of fun. I just used make shift tools (like the back side of a spoon and a piece of oak) to form it. This might be the reason I did not get a great finish on it though.

I oxidized the copper after with a torch to give it the color and shellaced it to set it.

That is interesting. Bet you could get one heck of a cut from the edges if you aren’t careful. I’ve been thinking about giving this a try, I’ve seen a couple of videos somewhere and thought it looks neat. Well done.
