Project Information
Being both a woodworker as well as a musician I had often dreamed of combining those two hobbies so I finally did on this build.
I had a chance to pick up some Curly Waterfall Bubinga and thought it would make an awesome guitar. I used a pre-made neck from Carvin guitars (I also purchased the majority of the hardware and electronics for the bass from Carvin). It features active/passive electronics for a wide tonal range.
The body wings are a laminate of the Bubinga and Swamp Ash, both are excellent tone woods. The neck is Maple with a Rosewood fingerboard and features Abalone block inlays.
The finish on the bass is simply 5 coats of Tung oil.
It is an amazing instrument and is pretty much my main bass to play live. It is very well balanced and sounds awesome.
