This is my first attempt at a box. I was asked to build this box urn after a freind’s dog passed away. I have built “you can do this” style projects before and various shop appliances but never a piece by request. I used birds eye maple and walnut. The top fits into the bottom trim and secures with brass screws. I finished with five coats of gloss poly, wet sanded between coats and a final coat of past wax buffed to a high shine. There are several things I would do differently now that it is complete, but my friend was very happy with it.

It’s pretty good for a first. Like the simple design and the attractive wood combo, make a great resting place for friend’s pet. Well done!

Although the picture is a little dark it looks like a real nice box. Congratulations. I’m sure it won’t be your last.
