My first attempt at one of Andy’s art boxes. Went with pine and redwood to start with just in case I screwed it all up. I did not have a 1/8” router bit so I tried dowels for the handle. Carved a little too deep so it looks like it has eyes. The pin hinges took two tries to figure out. Definitely learned a lot with this one. I am already working on some more. It is about 8” x 6” and 3 1/2” tall finished with danish oil and wipe on poly.

Wow, I am impressed . What a great box ,especially for a first attempt. I am about to venture into that arena. Your project and success is what I needed to get going. Thanks for sharing.

What is going on with that lid? It’s awesome looking. Great work.

Thanks. It is for my wife and she wanted a random pattern so that is what I was going for.

Dave, I followed Andy’s blog step by step except for slight adjustments. That is when I screwed up on the pin hinges so definitely pay attention to that step. Good luck.

For a first, you’re definitly on the right path. Nice job!
