This is a sofa table that I made on July 3rd. The wife wanted a table to go behind a new sectional sofa we acquired.
I designed the table as simply as I could because I wanted to make it fairly quickly.
The maple “feet” are doweled on. There is a slight taper on one side of each leg.
The apron and legs were attached using pocket screws.
The top is a single piece of tiger maple (that I paid way too much for). I had the lumber store drum sand it for me to save a bit of time.
I tried using Waterlox for the first time. I sprayed a few coats on, then tried brushing a coat. I ended up with brush marks, so I sprayed another on. I ended up wet sanding the top and putting a couple coats of paste wax on.
I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. The power even went out for 2 hours in the middle of making it.
Here’s the plan I used:

And a few more shots:

beautiful…I am amazed at the difference in the “figuring” (not sure if right term) on the edge vs. the top…
your bench looks good too—-is that a project you built???

Very nice. I especially like the top and the beading on the aprons. Really sets off a nice table.

Nice. How did you do the triple bead on the aprons?

Wonderful table, the beading on the aprons adds a nice, elegant touch. And you popped the figure pretty good on that maple.
Thanks for posting

Easy . . . MLCS triple beading bit:

Thanks, yeah . . . forgot to mention that I first did a tinted shellac coat, then sanded it off leaving the tint in the grain.

yeah, great selection, design and everything… it looks outstanding!
I really love the bottom of the legs/feet of the table… did you ever see the chairs built by Peter Behrens? He built some for the Sparkasse in Vienne, Somehow with your designs I think you might like the “Wiener Moderne” or Vienna modern style.
Hey, keep up the awesome work!
