I’m not sure of the wood type on the horse, spalted something? I think the next one should have a mane.

I was going to say it looked like a horse to me, until you mentioned the mane I didn’t notice it was missing. Not bad for a first. If I tried to carve a horse I don’t know what it would look like, but certainly not any animal known to man.

Can’t believe it’s your first, your horse looks good and the wood and finish are pretty as well. Great carving!
