I called this one maple fudge because it gives the feeling of a candy store
I made this box for a buddy who gave me the wood sample that I used for the lid .
The box is made from maple, walnut and the wood sample and I let you guess for a day and then reveal the name .
The size is 9 1/2” W x 6” D x 4” H ,lined with red cloth and finished with bees wax and oil mixture .
The hinges are barrel type made by SOSS and I got them to fit just perfect with all the splines aligning all around ,piece of cake after a couple of boxes .

Another beauty. The mystery wood looks sort of like that engineered strand board (whatever it’s called).

Beautiful and those hinges would have resembled swiss cheese if I were to try them! I think the wood is box elder. The lining is nicely done and your friend will certainly like it.

This box is so nice Kiefer! I couldn’t even dream up something this nice let alone make one. I have no idea the type of wood you used for the top but I’ll take a guess that it’s a hunk of engineered support beam lumber. It just looks like something compressed to me. I hope you don’t take this as an insult to your amazing work! I love all of your beautiful projects.

Another great box. This one focuses on the wood. I still am afraid to try those hinges but looks like they worked perfectly for you. As far as the mystery wood, all I can say is it probably doesn’t grow where I live.

Really outstanding box kiefer. the wood combinations work well. The top wood reminds me of black palm but I would say it is white palm. I look forward to your masterpieces.

You work has amazed me again. The box is stunning.

Since my favorite sport is being wrong, I’ll guess that the wood is engineered. That’s my best stab.

Thanks but those hinges are easy once you have done a couple .
Yes my wife does a good job on the lining .
I have seen your work and this would be a piece of cake for you but you cant eat it and I think that stops you from doing it . LOL
Thanks Andy ,yes the focus is on wood that I have not used before and the lid on this once turned out nice and interesting .

Wow, another beautiful box~! Looks like a straw broom somehow transformed into a board. I’m interested to see what this mystery material is.
