A friend of mine had a cherry tree taken down. I took a few short branch logs with the intent on making something with them. She mentioned she needed some coasters, and I had a friend with a CNC machine, so this idea struck me. She is an animal lover – she owns 2 horses and a cat. The pictures on the coasters are pictures her family, horses and kitty cat.

I sliced the branch logs on the bandsaw at about 5/4 and dried the small 12-14” pieces in the microwave. It worked remarkably well.

The posts on the holder are secured with glue and small brass dowels (epoxied in place).

They are about 4” square, about 1/2” thick.

Look at the last picture to see the original photos.

Thanks for looking.

Nice way to say thank you! I love cherry, your coaster turned out very nice! What type of finish did you use Andrew?

Tony, I gave them to her about 6 months ago – just forgot to post here. She loved them!

Along with this gift went this horse plaque:

Fantastic coaster set! The cherry is beautiful and the sweet carvings made it more special and personalized. Great work!
