This is a carving based on a bronze statue in the plaza of the town of Ronda, Spain, up in the mountains of Southern Spain. The bronze is about 8 feet tall, and this carving is around 10 inches tall, carved from walnut.

Very nice. I’m very impressed with the smooth finish! Is it mostly hand-sanded? How long from cut-out (bandsaw?) to finished product?

Nice work Claude. ‘dem womens is easy to look at but hard to carve’

Jerry: I don’t remember how much time I spent on it, but likely around 8-10 hours total. I used my 1/2 inch long x 1/2 inch diameter sanding drum in my Dremel for the rough sanding 80/120/220 grits, then by hand with 400 for the final sanding. Finished with Minwax Poly (clear). No stain – the color is from the natural wood.

Miracle….. Grace…... At me the patience won’t be enough to bring to such gloss. Bravo…
