Mojo! Repurposed Wood Flooring for Wood Tile Wall at Stairway Inset

This is a follow up from a smaller wood tile wall inset above my fireplace mantle.
http://lumberjocks.com/projects/87848

I was able to complete this in the same time as the smaller inset as my learning curve shortened quite a bit. Each piece is 4 1/4” squared and thicknesses were randomly placed as well as colors and types of wood.

Everything from solid wood hickory, bamboo, acacia, walnut and oak. Best part is all the wood used was from salvaged waste given to me by a wood floor installer friend so my only cost was the mastic and of course my time cutting these buggers to match one another.

Nicely done and very attractive.
Did you finish this yourself or is it prefinished flooring .

Very nice effect from both variation and thickness.

Thank you fellow LJ members!

kiefer: All the wood is pre-finished so even though not obvious in the photo there is a sheen difference that adds to the effect.

deon: I thought about framing but the thickness variation would have left gaps that I did not want.

Creative use of wood scraps. It looks fantastic and the different wood colors are pleasing to the eyes with the light effects. Great job!
