Hey Guys,

One of my co-workers liked my phone dock so much that she asked me to make one for her Iphone 5. I used Rock Maple and Black Walnut, and made a few design changes. I like this way this one looks much better than the first one I made, what do you think?

Very nicely done, and I agree that this one is much better than your first one. However, subsequent constructs of the same design almost always seem to work out better—guess you learn and improve.

No the cable is permanent, super glued in.

Great concept. I would also like to know how the power cable is attached. Is it loose in the cradle?

I am planing on doing a couple of Iphone 5 docks and seeing if there will be any interest on Etsy. I will do up a photo blog for you. How much do you guys think I should charge for one?

It is super glued in. That way you can just push the phone down and pull the phone out of the dock with out the plug coming with it.

Ok dumb question, how did you cut the cradle for the phone? Is it routed?

I made a template and I used a mortising bit to rout out the the space for the phone.

You can get two docks out of one blank by routing the whole thing out then cutting it in half.
