I made this for a customer who wanted it for their bowling club’s weekly raffle. They put the paper tickets in it and hold drawings. I used oak and Maple, and rare earth magnets to keep the trap door closed while it’s spinning. Most of the oak is from a 130 year old book shelf salvaged from a local courthouse that was throwing the shelves out. I thought it was rather ironic that the shelves held law books for 130 years and now it’s a gambling instrument.

The handle was turned on the lathe, and I used paste wax to keep the movement lubricated. Mostly everything was assembled with screws so it can be maintained/replaced when necessary.

This is a pretty cool project. Nice work. Cool story with the law book shelves.
