Mystery Project Revealed!...story about that later.
My son (2 1/2 yrs) was setting the ball on an overturned plastic tote and hitting it with the bat. My wife said we should get him a baseball tee, I said “I can build him one.” So I went into the shop and started looking for lumber to use. I was able to build it all with scraps from previous projects…Awesome! This was my first project that required some sort of joinery for the sleave…its made from 3/4” plywood and rabbeted at the corners…first time setting up a stacked dado on my own…came out perfect. The base is also from 3/4” plywood, the inner shaft is spruce. The shaft is adjustable so that it can grow with him, 23” at its shortest up to 36” fully extended. there is a 1/4” peg that holds it in place with a hole in the shaft every inch. The top of the shaft is cut in a way to hold the ball. It is all painted (since I used plywood) with indoor/outdoor paint and then protected with Spar Urethane. This will be a Christmas present for him even tho he has already played with it, lol.
The Mystery Project story is…Every project I have done I have told people what I was building and the progress I was making during the build. Since this was different than anything I had ever built I wanted to keep it a secret until it was done. This is also the quickest I have ever completed a project.
Thanks for looking…I would be interested to hear how some of you would have made it.
