Daughter's Desk

This desk is made out of recycled pine. In my first house I took the pine wains-coating down from the walls in the dining room. I then surfaced planed the pine to remove the old finish and clean the lumber up. The previous owners had a dog and he had scratched (chewed) most of the wood. Other than the time I put in making the desk, the desk only cost the price of the knobs for the drawers (approx. $4). Everything else was just scrap from the wood pile. The legs are tapered on all sides (1.5 inches to 1 inch), the top has a bread board edge (measures 17.5 in x 34 in). The drawer fronts are pine, but the rest of the drawer parts are clear vertical grain fir from an old school cabinet that a school was throwing away during a remodel. Most of the cabinet can be seen in the first picture it is my main storage and bench (behind the unfinished desk). Stain was a Miniwax “Rosewood”. Top coat wipe on poly.
