Walnut Vase

From a walnut tree on the property. This piece of wood was somewhat hollow all the way through and after a lot of chiseling, sanding and shaping, I finally got it where I wanted it. The bottom is actually a slice off of the top. Was originally about 18” tall and finished, it stands 12” tall and is about 5” wide at the top. I applied 2 coats of Danish oil and then 2 applications of satin wipe-on-poly. Thanks for the looks and comments.

Gorgeous!
Love the idea of using a slice of the top for the bottom!

Love the natural edge at the base. Glad you hollowed it out from a turners point of view or it would have cracked.
