Small blanket chest I made after seeing a picture of one done by an apprentice in 1840. It’s all solid wood – I used poplar for the exterior and pine for the bottom. I finished the outside with 8 coats of amber shellac

Beautiful, very well done. I especially like the frame & panel lid, nice touch. Looks like hand crafted dovetails, nice, very nice.

I did all the dovetailing with my Leigh jig. I then made a saw kerf on each pin and glued in a piece of maghony to highlight the joint. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t do the highlight thing again.

Fantastic blanket chest! Those dovetails are great and like the lid and the finish. Great job!
