That is a very nice table. What size is it? Is the top also juniper?

Love it. I could spend hours looking at hidden pictures and faces in the twisty leg.

Candy Hicks,
I really love the multiple colors exuded from the wood. The rusticness of the twisted knarling is intriguing as well. I’ll bet ya can’t make another one just like it though! Very unique, thanks for sharing.
Sincerely,
Ken McGinnis

Hey, what kind of freaky peeping tom kind of stuff is this supposed to be? Just walking by I bet you’d feel violated. Is the FBI in New York or something?

Weird, just weird…

Candy,

I’m sorry, I think my blood sugar must have been too low when I wrote that other comment. I thought it would sound funnier than it must be to you. Your work is fabulous. I was trying to make a comment on the nature of the wood with the knots that look like eyes and I swear I saw a face too. Please accept my apologies and a heaping helping of praise for your work.

Outputter
Not a problem, I figured you were joking and I just was not getting it. I understand about the whole bloodsugar thing, I am hypoglycemic and when mine gets out of wack I get very anxious, grouchy and just all around not feeling well. THanks agian !!!!

I see the eye too :) Nice work Candy, you have some nice juniper out there, ours is different here and not so twisted, I had a Juniper bed turn out with alot of eyes in it. We called it the Ghost Bed :) hehe

Very sensual.
I get a lot of my influence from wood like this for my boxes.Driftwood, roots etc…
I dont try and mimic them exactly, rather,I just let their shapes direct my creative side.
Thanks for sharing all of your pieces.Nature created them but you gave them life.
These tell alot about you as a person I think.Sensitive with a kind nature.
Or maybe your a knife weilding biker chick…it could go either way. :-)

I totally agree with you, when we are getting ready to start on a project we will find a piece of wood that we want to work with, but the wood itself pretty much tells us what it wants to be. We might have many ideas of what we can do with it but we always go with what feels right. We dont try to say that we have created something, we just uncover the beauty that was given to us.

Well I like to think I am sensitive with a kind nature, but I do believe there is a knife weilding biker chick in there somewhere :-P

I like your attitude!
We dont try to say that we have created something, we just uncover the beauty that was given to us.”
Thats how I feel about my work also. Most people look at me like I just sprouted a third eye when I say that though. They either think its false modesty or I am just a nut who wears a lucky astrology mood watch.
But I honestly believe that we dont really create anything, more accurately we showcase what has already been created, helping others to “see what we feel”.
You have a real talent for taking a piece of firewood and cutting away the distracting parts, and what remains is sculpture.
