Carl Jacobson turned a single piece scoop last Friday on his YouTube channel. He made a holder that allowed him to hollow out the scoop after turning the handle. I immediately thought of a pipe when I saw that. You might want to check it out for your next one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgm9gmtHhNo

Also, is cherry OK for a pipe? Some wood would be really bad I thought – don’t know about any particular species, just wondering if you looked in to it.

Look at that – all those words and I almost forgot to say – Nice job! I like all the detail you put in to those pieces.

Hahah that’s actually what sparked the idea to make mine on the lathe!

Too Funny!

Cherry is considered good for pipes. It’s common enough. Olive and other fruit woods are also popular. They just don’t have the lifespan of briar.

So cool pipes! Great shapes and the woods are beautiful. Great turning pieces!
