cherry cabinet

I was in the lumberyard buying some pine when I saw 2 quarter panels of cherry for sale for $15 each so I snagged both and made this cabinet with them. The carcass is the cherry plywood along with the shelf. The drawers are pine boxes with cherry fronts. The remainder of the cabinet is all solid cherry including the knobs.

I made this one after I had made the pine one I posted yesterday.
The back is 1/2” solid cherry bead board I had for over 6 years waiting to use it on something like this. I put the “defect” in the interior of the cabinet because I like these.
I did the same detail that holds the glass in that I did on the pine cabinet. It’s a big “L” shaped rabbeted piece that I like better then tiny pieces of 1/4 round.
Did a better job on the drawers this time as I learned how to make dovetails by hand so all my drawers will now be made this way.
This cabinet keeps the other two company and they commiserate together.

Lovely cabinet, I’m thinking the ‘defect’ just adds to the character of the piece. Sort of a beauty mark!

Thanks to all for the comments. Of the pine and cherry cabinets I made, I like this the best. I think cherry is one of the most beautiful woods to work.
