This is cherry body and hickory top with finger joints, the wood was re-sawn to 1/4 inch. I just made a jig for the table saw for finger joints. Part of the fun of wood working has been making functional jigs and breaking down the wood to what I want. I still have a little trouble with hinges and the lid closing completely it wants to stay open about a 1/16 of an inch. This was made for the tea packages we have in the house. I will make more for Christmas presents and get ahead of the game. Christmas is right around the corner, 5 months, so two weekends out of the month leaves 20 days to build projects.

Without seeing your box. I would guess that the screw heads are holding the lid up your 1/16 of an inch.
Great looking box. Nice job. The Hickory is a nice contrast to the sapwood on the sides.
