I made this cradle for my first Grandson. It’s made entierly of pine and the sun emblems were hand-carved.
It took me 2 months to build it, He out-grew it in three!

Very nicely done, and even if your grandson grew out of it, he now has a family heirloom.

Nice work.
You found the biggest problem in building cradles. They outgrow them all too soon. Then what do the parents do with the cradle, especially with boys. Girls can use them for their dolls. I have made several for family members and designed them to be disassembled and stored flat which means they are more likely to become heirlooms.

Sounds like a big boy. Great looking crib. Maybe there will be another so you can get six months of use out of it.

Wonderful cradle! Great design and execution. The sun carving makes a great accent. It’s a great heirloom piece. Great job!

Thanks for all the kind words! I don’t have a fancy workshop but thankfully, a labor of love mostly needs blood sweat and tears.

I must give credit to my Daughter Mary for the bumper pads. She made them and the matching curtains.
I have one more younger daughter that will get a chance to use it so I’m keeping it safe – fully assembled I’m afraid. It makes a great laundry hamper for now!
