Using scraps of Pecan and Black walnut a friend brought me I tried to create something special… I am not real happy with the outcome. The wood had lots of flaws that I could not sand off.. I also sprayed it with laquer to see if it brought out the grain.. I don’t think it did.. But it is still a unique bowl

Flaws create charactor. If the walls are still thicker then 3/16 you can still do some power sanding or a very light touch with a round scraper which is sharp.

Keep up the turning

Nice bowl Nick. I personally can’t see any flaws. We tend to be more critical of our own work than others might. I have a few Pecan logs that have been in the shop for the past 5-8 years, I’m going to turn something, not large enough for a bowl, but could be some nice boxes :-)

It looks perfect from here. Like the beautiful wood contrast of pecan and walnut. Great job!

Black Walnut and Pecan… Very cool! Love the contrast of the dark and the light wood. It adds a great interest! Wonderful!!
