hello folks, this is a spalted beech hollow form which i’ve turned today, its 6 1/2” tall by 5 1/2” wide. I have included a picture of the end grain of the log which this form (and three others) was cut from.

great looking hollow form. The figure of the spalted beech is really nice!

Very nice. So did you turn this with the pith integrated in the bowl, or did you cut the blank out from one side?

thank you for your comments.

yes this piece was cut from one side: I try not to have the pith in any of my forms as it can cause irregular distortion and it increases the chance of the piece cracking during the drying process.

The wood is spectacular, and you did right by it with the pleasing shape. Well done!
