Hi guys, I was looking at the “parrot” bench vise, mostly used for luthier work and I knew I had seen something similar before, that I could build instead of buying, so I searched around and found it:

So, I had to make it!, not quite as versatile as the commercial one but close enough, and once again I had lots of fun building it ;)

I went with the wood I had at hand so the size is different than the original, but the results and utility is the same I’d say, the vise opens up to 5” and works great.

Update: The t pipe handle thing is gone, now the vise looks nicer.

I will mod my work bench so I can place the vise in a couple of good places for guitar work.

I mounted the jaw faces a little bit different on purpose so I could add curved pads to hold odd pieces (guitar necks, etc.) later, like this:

Cheers!
