Very nice table, I like the bird’s beaks on the corners of the drawer… It adds a lot of interest to the table..

Thanks for throwing the video up there. We should do more of that. 3 pictures never seems like enough.

Great job Giz. The one extra part I would have liked to have seen was under the table to see the drawer support and table top fasteners. Still, just the kind of thing we need for LJTV….

Hi,
Thanks for all of the nice comments.
I cut from the video: the underside of the table and the drawer slides becuase I thought it was too long. If you want more of this I can post the “behind the velvet ropes” tour with the underside of the table.
How much ranting can you all handle?

I need to learn more about sap wood. How is it spotted? When should it be used?
BTW - I really liked the video. The table looks great. If you have more info to share, please do.

Well usually it is lighter than the rest of the wood. It is the outer part of the tree I believe; the newer growth.
You can cut it off. Or use it as part of a design.

In these doors I made, you can see that I layed out the sapwood to create a pattern across both doors. There are two stripes of lighter wood on each door (though smaller on the right).
Some sapwood reacts differently to finishing (fuming and staining) so staining a sample is a good idea. In the table corbels of the table, you can see that the corbels did not offer color when oiled.
So it is a matter of preference.
