Made this when I was a senior in High School. Over 20 years ago. Sits in my parents house now. First time ever doing dovetails.

I built one like this in high school too. I built it in 1964. It has one coat of BLO to bring out the color and 3 coats of lacquer over that. Some Johnson’s paste wax and today it looks as good as it did in 1964. I made it for my mother and have it back today. They are great projects for a high school student. Congratulations on yours.

Very nicely done and most attractive.

Amazing looking first project. I don’t think they are doing that in HS anymore. I doubt they would let anyone get that close to a power tool, or sharp hand tools. Great job!

Very nice. You never forget that first big project. Well done and has endured the test of time.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I’m amazed the lid is still flat as the day I finished it.

Fantastic and well made chest! Like the design, dovetails and finish. It looks better with age. Great work!
