Simple Tool Tote

So I needed a convenient way to get my tools from my tool to my shop when in use. I was tired of walking back and forth from a closet that houses my tool chest to the porch that is my workshop. I also thought that with the trays in the chest all pushed back and the lid shut, the void space above the saw till is wasted. So I designed this tote to fill that space and provide more storage. It still allows the lid to shut.

A few of us ATC’ers are going to steal your design! Nicely done. Shop looks great too.

Great use of available space—that’s using your brain. Very nicely done.

That is a pretty interesting idea. How is your access to the middle and lower tray affected?

I can’t access the lower tray with the tote in place. Usually I put it on the floor in front of the chest and load it up with the tools I need and go. My access isn’t affected when the tote is out.

I am slapping myself right now. I like making chests and I like making tool totes, but I never considered making them compatible. I donate my projects to charity auctions and this would increase the”Wow” factor in my projects.

I am going to borrow your idea, feel free to borrow some of mine.

What an excellent idea.

Great idea that it’s compatible with the tool chest! That’s one handy and sturdy tote. I’m sure it will serve you well for a long time.

Have your say...
