Barn - Bandsaw Box

This box is actually the reason I’m on Lumberjocks. My wife wanted a bandsaw box for her grandmother that looked like a barn. Simple enough but I like to look for inspiration from others online for any little details my creativity (or lack thereof) might miss. Oddly enough, when I searched for a barn shaped bandsaw box, there was everything but anything resembling a barn. Even though I didn’t find what I was looking for, most of my search results were on this site and the rest is history.

The box itself is relatively simple. Time constraints didn’t allow the time to do a hidden drawer as I’d considered doing, especially since I knew the X patterns would (and did) take forever. Now with the cherry having darkened the contrast looks great and I couldn’t have asked for better on the way the grain came together in the V shapes. I’m considering making another out of walnut since I think the grey might make it look even more like an actual old barn. My wife wanted a red barn for her grandmother and cherry is rarely ever a bad choice. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Thank you for all the comments. And to Larry, I expect nothing less. I found Lumberjocks while looking for inspiration, and if I inspire anyone else, that’s great. From what I’ve seen on here, my little projects are poor prototypes for what others on here are capable of producing.

Brilliant idea, wonderful execution and a sweet looking box.
Can you share some dimensions?

The width including the roof protruding from either side is about 5 1/2”, the height is about 5 1/4” and the depth is a little under 4 inches. The gaps between drawers is about 3/8”. I don’t have the box in front of me at the time because it was a gift, but the height and width is where my pattern started and the depth is an approximation based on the thickness of the wood before cutting the back off and re-gluing it back on and sanding it. The wood I started with was 13/16 and it is 5 boards thick.
