In the last Sydney timber show that was in July, I bought the ringed hinge and spent all the time thinking what to do with it. At last I came up with this design, doted jewellery box. The pinkish timber is very nice for turning, not too hard ad not too soft. I don’t remember its name now. The black dots are African wingy. Silicon is used to glue the rings to the timber. 135mm tall.
I found out that the pinkish wood was Ambonya or PNG rose wood. Added on 31 of September/2013

That is real nice Sam, great use of the ringed hinge. Looks like a ladybird with the color and dots.

Fantastic job Sam! Could that be New Guinea rosewood (Amboyna) ?
